CLC Agenda for April 22
At its third meeting, on April 22, the Citywide Leadership Committee will discuss the grievance procedure, two proposals, and a candidate endorsement.
One proposal seeks to address institutional racism within the organization. It directs the CLC to empower the Working Group and Membership Development Coordinators to collect reports from branch and working groups on current diversity and the steps they are taking to develop a more diverse leadership. It would also seek to create a more inclusive culture, particularly within branches working in communities composed mostly of people of color.
The second proposal would create a CLC Discussion Bulletin, which would summarize the political proposals up for debate at each CLC meeting and be publicized to the entire chapter membership.
The CLC will also vote on whether endorse Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for the U.S. House of Representatives in New York’s 14th Congressional District, which includes parts of the Bronx and Queens. Both the Queens and Bronx/Upper Manhattan Branches voted to recommend the endorsement to the CLC
